This cache is located in Harmony Headlands State Park. To reach the cache, you will need to hike roughly 1.5 miles from the parking lot. You will be rewarded with views of the California coastline in its pristine state.
Harmony Headlands SP is a 784 acre coastal park located approximately 5 minutes north of the coastal community of Cayucos in San Luis Obispo County on Highway One. The park is open for day use hiking from 6:00 am to sunset.
A small parking lot is visible along the west side adjacent to the southbound lane of Highway One. The parking lot can accommodate approximately 10 vehicles. A $3.00 per vehicle day use fee has been approved, but is not yet being collected. There are no services available other than a portable restroom next to a small historic ranch house near the beginning of the trail. A group of State Park Volunteers walk the park and provide information to the hiking public and assist State Parks with monitoring park activities and reporting emergencies.
A one and half mile trail from the parking lot extends west to coastal marine terrace grassland with steep hills and panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean. The trail is nice and wide and nearly flat, with only very slight elevation changes near the coast. Bring your camera, because the views are stunning. This is also a good spot for whale sightings. I was fortunate to see one while placing the cache.
You are looking for a small camo container. The cache is about 3 feet off a small side trail on the bluffs. Please be careful not to trample the vegetation, and take care to replace the cache where you found it so it is not easily seen from the trail.
