A nice trail walk (although a bit muddy in the spring) in an infrequently visited wildlife preserve.
The whole idea was to get some fresh air, exercise and enjoy nature. So what better place to go than a preserve?! It's not an ammo can, but it's not a micro. The point is to get us outside.
Our cache is a small, lock & lock container that contains only buttons. We hope to keep this cache a "button only" cache. Original buttons include: I Love Pluto, Overworked and Underpaid, Off-duty Mom, Girls are the future, GS Princess, the log book, and the Turtle Traveler Travel Bug. Trade buttons, leave a travel bug, and have a great walk!
The Bellamy River Wildlife Sanctuary is located on the western bank of Bellamy River. There are 26 acres of forest, tidal creeks and coves, and is mostly flat. Some of the trees in there are amazing; red, black, and white oak, red maple, white pine, shagbark hickory and black birch.
This sanctuary is a nice place to take your dog, or just for a great nature walk. The trail is marked and walking is relatively easy to walk, but I would suggest hiking boots.
The sanctuary is off Back River Road/Piscataqua Road in Dover. Go down Bayview Road and you will go down a gravel road. Near the end of the gravel road is a small parking area on the right, which is marked.
