Warning

Please note: To use the services of geocaching.com, you must agree to the terms and conditions in our disclaimer.

This is a 5 stage multi-cache located in a wooded flood plain on the banks of Ohio's National Scenic River, Big Darby Creek. The stages are challenging, and very rewarding once accomplished. I am unsure of the accuracy of the difficulty rating, so please post your thoughts in your logging. The first 4 stages are larger micros that lead to a Lock & Lock at #5. Park in the subdivision at N 39° 57.877' W 083° 14.486', and follow the trail into the woods.

 Welcome to Peanut's Playground.

The Big Peanut in the Sky by you.

Summer Darby

These caches are hidden on a 40 acre plot of land designated as green space for community use. This wild area is a well kept secret and is generally only frequented by the residents of the adjacent subdivision, Lake Darby Estates. This woodland floodplain is rich with native naturDarby Creek woodlandal beauty and wildlife.

Unfortunately, there are several residents who consider this area to be their personal ATV course, and inflict much destruction on the floodplain with their vehicles, and other unsavory activities.  So please bring along a trash bag, and help us keep this area as clean as possible.

Our hope is to bring Eco Friendly geocachers to this area to adventure, and raise awareness of the precarious state of our beloved watershed.

Peanut on a logCaptain by you.

Peanut and I have been working on this multi for a couple of weeks now, and want to share a great adventure with the more intrepid geocachers in the area.  This course will take some time, and test your skills, so please come down to the creek, you may even get to play with Peanut... if you're lucky!

PLEASE USE CAUTION WHEN HUNTING THESE CACHES.  IF YOU THINK YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO PUT THE CACHE BACK WHERE YOU FOUND IT, COME BACK WITH HELP.

Updated the parking coordinates, to a new location, as the previous entrance is now off limits.

Woo! What a blast! Had a great couple of hours in the woods with blb9556, lttldude9, drainhook, and Peanut, who was flummoxed by a Zany Squirrel. It might take me a little longer to write this - while Ben and Josh are probably off enjoying things like lifting their arms over their heads and not icing down their backs, I am not so lucky. Maybe after a few more trees the forty-pound spare tire will be a few pounds lighter :)

We picked a great day for this - with temperatures in the 60's and no leaves on the trees, I'm sure some of these challenges were easier than intended. Doesn't mean they were easy - no, no no. We were able to spot the cache at Stage 4 from the bank, probably not possible in the lush of summer. It was such a nice day, I decided to do Stage 4 barefoot - not something I expected to do on November 15. I thought that I would have better traction on the tree (I didn't - I still had to shimmy like eveyone else but DH and Peanut), and if I fell in, my shoes and socks would still be dry (no one got wet).

All in all, a great day for caching. My favorite so far! Oh yeah - took nothing (more swag than and Oscar goodie bag!), dropped a bug, signed the log.

Nice to meet up with drainhook, Chief Osceola, and blb. Good bunch of guys. We had a great day for tree climbing, not too cold or too warm... and no water. It was great to finally get this famous cache completed. I personally found stage 4 to be my favorite, little did I know that I would be in the same position later at Dozers. Chief is quite the tree climber; i can sense a new monkey for central ohio. Blb did great on stage 4, he blew me away with his progress. If that was my first climb i would told drainhook "he could keep his stinkin smiley... i'm going home." Haha, but everyone has to start somewhere, and they will only get better with experience. Thanks drainhook for coming out with us, like always I enjoy a good tree climbing group. TFTC I will see you soon to snatch my smiley from your other dog.

Today was an experience, not just a find. When we got to the parking area I already knew this could be interesting. As we walked down the trail we heard Drainhook and his dog, Peanut. We ventured to stage one from there. For stage one, Josh went right up the tree and grabbed the cache and got the coords. After, we made our way to stage two. I went up to get that stage. That got me into the mood of climbing trees for the day. We got that after a few minutes. Then we had to venture onto one of those island things. Once again Josh and Chief Oscolosa went up to get that one, which was funny since they both climbed up. They tossed the cache to me and I read the coords off. Then I read that you must sign the log on stage 4 and 5. Well we went to 4 and I knew, oh boy this could be bad. Yep this is the stage that is over the creek. So Josh gets up in like a minute. Then Chief Oscolosa, then me.... Well I didn't want to climb it but Drainhook made me. So it took me like 20 minutes to do it. Just looking at the creek was quite "fun" . We ventured to the last stage and I just signed the log on that one. It was nice knowing the excursion was over. Overall this was one of my favorites!
