Saturday, May 16, 2009 Roanoke County’s Garst Mill Park
An Amazing County Treasure Hunt begins and it's FREE!
Join us at Roanoke County’s Garst Mill Park at starting at 10AM for check-in, release forms and orientation. Not sure how to use a GPS device? No problem an instructional class is at 11:00Am.
The treasure hunt begins at 12noon and goes to 5PM. Ten scenic and /or historic sites within Roanoke County will be the destinations for this treasure hunt and the secret coordinates will be distributed at 11:50 am. All participants return to Garst Mill Park for the results.

You may compete as an individual/family or in student teams of 4 members and a teacher. At each site there will be one box/cache for individuals/families and another box/cache for student teams. (Containers will be on display the day of event.) Teams other than school teams can be with anyone, family members, family and friends, teens, whomever. We highly recommend for school teams to pre-register.
Inside each box lies your “treasure”. One gold colored gold coin valued at 10 points, one silver colored coin(5 pts) at each location in each cache along with ten bronze coins with a point value of 1 for each box/cache. The object will be to accumulate as many points as possible taking only one coin from each location. The mission, should you decide to accept is to be the first individual, family or team to return with the most accumulated points. Prizes will be awarded but a “fun-tastic” time will be your ultimate reward as you cache in the beautiful Roanoke County scenery and breathe taking views in the great outdoors. Pre-registration is encouraged!
