Geocache Description:

This cache is a 10 ounce camoed Lock & Lock container in a cubby in the rocks on the uphill side of the shady single-track Cascade Trail which runs along Grass Valley Creek in Anthony Chabot Regional Park. You don’t need to leave the trail. Bring a pencil.

The nearest parking is at Clyde Woolridge Staging Area where Grass Valley Road meets Skyline Blvd in Oakland. A map of the park is at https://www.ebparks.org/parks/anthony_chabot/ . The park is open from 7 am to 10 pm. Check the park’s website, http://www.ebparks.org/parks/anthony_chabot, for other useful information. The Cascade Trail is named for the waterfall that is about 100 feet or so north of the cache. If you are there at the time of the year when the creek is flowing, you will hear the water falling. The falls are narrow and 15 to 20 feet high. There is a steep, slippery path down the side of the ravine where curious folks have climbed down to get a better look. I’m not sure I would go down there when it is muddy, but keep an eye out for poison oak if you go. The satellite signals are kind of fickle here because of all the trees. I’m not even sure how accurate my coordinates are, so just look for a cubby in the rocks on the uphill side of the trail. It should be fairly easy to spot. Feel free to suggest better coordinates. There is poison oak in the area, but you can easily avoid it while grabbing the cache. There is a special button for First to Find.
