O Forte da Cadaveira, também conhecido por Forte de S. Teodósio foi classificado como Imóvel de Interesse Publico em 1977, situado na praia de S. Joao do Estoril, fazia parte do conjunto de fortalezas joaninas edificadas entre 1642 e 1648, cuja disposição visava formar uma linha defensiva entre S. Julião da Barra e o Cabo da Roca.
Segundo indica uma inscrição colocada no portal da fortaleza, a sua construção iniciou-se em Abril de 1642, concluindo-se no ano seguinte.
O seu traçado apresenta uma planta quadrangular, dividida em dois espaços rectangulares, que correspondiam a bateria, com parapeito, e aos alojamentos, sobre o qual se dispunha o terraço. Aqueles dividiam-se em três dependencias, sendo a central utilizada como pátio, a partir do qual se acedia aos quartéis e ao paiol, dispostos lateralmente.
A fortaleza era originalmente protegida por uma cortina de trincheiras, e nos finais do século XVII esta linha defensiva foi reforçada com uma cortina exterior. Já no século XVIII foram construídas três guaritas em três dos ângulos do forte.
Depois de ter sido desactivado das suas funções militares em 1843, o Forte de São Teodósio foi cedido à Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Cascais, passando posteriormente para a posse de um particular, e voltando à irmandade em 1897. Em 1942, depois da construção da Marginal, o forte seria cedido à Guarda-fiscal, estando entregue a esta instituição até à actualidade.
Segundo informações da Câmara Municipal de Cascais, encontra-se em preparação um projecto de requalificação para este Forte que poderá acolher uma futura cafetaria e um espaço expositivo. .
