It's a puzzle cache so what do you expect?

Use the digits 1 to 9 in to replace the letters below A to I with the following rules.

1. The boxes containing 1 and 2 and all the boxes between add up to 12.

2. The boxes containing 2 and 3 and all the boxes between add up to 23.

3. The boxes containing 3 and 4 and all the boxes between add up to 34.

4. The boxes containing 4 and 5 and all the boxes between add up to 45.

A B C D E F G H I

Use the value of each of the letters above to solve the equations below to find where the cache is located..

X=[(B+D)(I-A)+(B+H)]/[(A+I)(D+F)^B]

Y=[(F+A)(E+C)+B]/(G+C)^C

The final coordinates are:
LATITUDE + X
LONGITUDE - Y

I could be lieing about the difficulity rating of this cache as it could be rated as a 5 star difficulity, as you may need special equipment to solve the equations i.e. a high school student in algebra, LOL.

You can check your answers for this puzzle on Geochecker.com.

I FINALLY put this one in the "Found" column. I refused to accept the premise of this one for a long time. Sorry, my math brain likes to follow the instructions.

I did the hard math just fine it was the simple addition and subtraction on the final coordinates that messed me up with this one. I ended up going to the final twice before I got the cache.

BTW - This was #2200 for me.

Thanks Tim,

Randy

FINALLY! I have looked at this puzzle several times since it was published. I know for a fact that I had the right numbers a couple of times but until today it never really hit me what to do with them. I even hit up the c/o for a hint at an event a couple days, computed the numbers he suggested and still couldn't get a success screen. Again, for about the sixth time I was going to give up and file my notes away when I thought...hey...wait a minute. I punched in the new set of numbers and got the SUCCESS screen I had been after for so so long. Even though it was raining I just had to go out and take the journey to the cache. I feels oh so good to scratch this one of my to-do list. THANX Tim!

We had been looking at this puzzle for some time without a clue. With a little encouragement from find Waldo, we were able to solve it. After finding another cache in the area, we took the walk over the icy snow to meet a few muggles who left us to find the cache. It was getting dark as we walked back to the Jeep, shivering from the cold but with smiles on our faces! Thanks for the challenge and the cache.

Happy New Year.... 2010! What better way to start off the New Decade than finding a pesky puzzle cache that we couldn't find eariler in the year. With a pot of coffee and a drawer full of sharpened pencils I carefully reread the cache page and went back to work. Liar Liar? I wouldn't be a Liar if I said that the hard part of this one is finding out the answer to that question.
After many attempts the word I love to see, 'SUCCESS' was mine. Off we went 'pants on fire' to locate the cache & sign log.
Glad to get this one off the list! Thanks for the cache that also completes the holiday cache challenge for us.

FTF with Liddleladie81 and WeeLadie08. Finally! Where were all the FTF hounds on this one, huh? Cat got your tongue? Finally tried a new approach today and voila! got the answer even with a slight error in the formula which has now been corrected. Thanks for a head scratcher!
