Der Ramesch (aka Echostein, aka Kuhfotzen) steht als eindrucksvolle, schmale Felsmauer im Schatten des Warschenecks. Für alle Anstiege auf diesen Gipfel benötigt man Schwindelfreiheit und Trittsicherheit sowie eine gewisse Vertrautheit mit weitgehend weglosen, schrofigen Gelände.
Besonders lohnend ist die Überschreitung des Gipfels mit Aufstieg über den gebänderten Ostgrat (kurze Stellen II) und Abstieg über den Westgrat (kurze Passagen I). In der Nordwand gibtes lohnende Kletterrouten über die der Rother Alpenvereinsführer "Totes Gebirge" Auskunft geben kann.
Aufstieg: Von der Bergstation des Frauenkar Sessellifts unter der Südflanke des Ramesch absteigen bis man im Bereich einer Störung (vertikale Felsbänder) auf den Grat steigen kann. Von hier an immer nah an der Gratschneide aufsteigen - Schwierigkeiten können in der Regel in der Südflanke umgangen werden.
Abstieg: Vom Gipfel nach Süden etwa 50hm über Schrofen und Felsplatten absteigen, danach lang und etwas unangenehm nach Osten queren (Steigspuren). Etwa 50m bevor man den Ostgrat erreicht bei einem Steinmann durch einen kurzen Kamin auf ein tieferes Band absteigen. Danach unschwierig zur Frauenscharte absteigen.
Der Cache ist ein Petling. Austattung: Nur Bleistift + Logbuch, bitte keine Tauschgegenstände.
The Ramesch (aka Echostein, aka Kuhfotzen) stands, although itself an impressive rockspire, always in the shadow of the much better known Warscheneck. Sure footing and a head for heights is needed for all ascent-routes. You also should be able to deal with grass-covered and crumbly rock.
The most rewarding route is described here: Ascent the mountain via the Easternridge with its rock-ledges (up to UIAA II) and descent the mountain via the steep western ridge. (UIAA I). Consult the Rother Alpenvereinsführer Totes Gebirge for information about the climbing routes in the northface.
Ascent: From the summit station of the Frauenkar lift cross into the southern flank of the Ramesch until you can climb up to the ridge (near a 'kink' in the rock-ledges). Follow the ridge to the summit, avoid the vertical parts by short crossings into the south face.
Descent: Descent about 50hm from the summit into the south face (Grass and rock), then traverse carefully to the East (faint trail). About 50m before you reach the edge of the eastern ridge climb down through a short chimney to reach a lower rock ledge. Climb down this ledge and a latter rocky ramp to the Frauenscharte.
The cache is a small petling with only a logbook and a pen.
