HT0489 on 1929 Multi-Cache

This cache has been archived.

Krypton: As there's been no cache to find for months, I'm archiving it to keep it from continually showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements. If you wish to repair/replace the cache sometime in the future, just contact us (by email), and assuming it meets the guidelines, we'll be happy to unarchive it.

Geocache Description:

The cache is not at the posted coordinates but is within an easy search radius. What you will find (in addition to the cache) is an old bridge along Crystal Springs Road and the benchmark - Y 1122. Note: Beware of little muggles watching you from across the road.

There were lots of happenings in the year 1929. A few notables...
  • Babe Ruth ties the record for hitting Grand Slams in consecutive games.
  • The U.S. and Canada agree to preserve Niagara Falls.
  • The german airship Graf Zeppelin begins around-the-world flight and completes it in 21 days.
  • June 8 - Discovery of element 93 (Neptunium), announced
  • There are a number of bridges in California that were built in the year 1929. The largest bridge constructed in that year was the former San Francisco Bay Toll Bridge (now reconfigured and named as the San Mateo-Hayward Bridge). The shortest bridge, as far as I can tell, is the one you are standing on.

Begin your hunt for the cache by locating the benchmark (don't forget to log the find!). From there, you have only one logical direction to head towards so please, for safety's sake, stay away from the main road and remain on the bridge! The cache only has enough room for a logsheet so please bring your own writing instrument.

If you use the hint then downgrade the difficulty by one (1) star. Other than that, enjoy the hunt and please avoid using any cache 'descriptives' in your logs. Thanks!

Note: Although the general terrain in this area is relatively flat, wheelchair accessibility may be difficult for those looking for the benchmark.
