Ever wonder what is down that dirt road you drive past every
day? Or that faint trail that you walk by just off the path you
normally travel? Where does the stream go after that next bend? In
this case, where does that path go that is along the break in the
guardrail on Rte 126?
The cache is a camouflaged ammo can hidden on a less commonly
accessed section of the Bay Circuit Trail. The BCT travels from
Newburyport to Duxbury, passing by some popular sites including
Walden Pond and Tippling Rock. Trail maps and detailed descriptions
of the route are provided on the BCT website,
http://www.baycircuit.org.
Use caution when crossing Rte 126 to get from the recommended
parking area to the trail entrance.
This section of the trail takes you past some interesting
scenery including a beaver pond, abandoned golf driving range, a
sea of cat tails and rushes, a section of traditional New England
forest, and finally an interesting rock formation that looks to us
like an enormous creature emerging from the earth.
