Ennen nykyisen 4-tien olemassaoloa tie Rovaniemeltä pohjoiseen kulki keskustasta Suutarinkorvan sillan ylittäen nykyistä Rinteenmäkeä ja edelleen Pajakyläntietä pitkin ja yhtyi Napapiirin jälkeen nykyiseen 4-tien linjaan. 4-tien siltoja Rovaniemen kohdalla alettiin rakentaa vuonna 1969 ja tie avattiin liikenteelle 1971. Tämän jälkeen entisenlainen liikennöinti Rinteenmäellä loppui ja nykyisin osa kadusta on kävelytietä ja sitä katkomaan on tehty uusia risteyksiä ym. Tielinja on kuitenkin selvästi nähtävissä kartoista ja myös Rinteenmäen keskivaiheilta ylöspäin.
Kätköön ei mahdu kynää, joten ota oma kynä mukaan.
Before the main highway number 4 (E75) was built in Rovaniemi the official way to North went along other road (nowdays named "Rinteenmäki" and onwards "Pajakyläntie"). It started from the city center and crossed river Kemijoki at Suutarinkorva bridge. The highway 4 (E75) was started to built in Rovaniemi in 1969 and it was ready to open in 1971. After this they have modified the old way, for example the walk road and new crossroads, but still you can see the old line in the city maps and also when you are standing in the middle or end part of Rinteenmäki road.
