Predchodcom univerzity bola Vysoká škola polnohospodárska v Nitre založená v roku 1952. V roku 1992 bola zlúcením Pedagogickej fakulty a Vysokej školy polnohospodárskej v Nitre zriadená Nitrianska univerzita, ktorá bola však ešte v tom istom roku rozdelená na Vysokú školu polnohospodársku a Vysokú školu pedagogickú. Súcasný názov má univerzita od roku 1996, ked bola Vysoká škola polnohospodárska v Nitre zákonom c. 324/1996 Z.z. premenovaná na Slovenskú polnohospodársku univerzitu v Nitre.

Slovak University of Agriculture (SUA) in Nitra is a public university type of college.
Predecessor of the university was Agricultural University in Nitra, founded in 1952. In 1992 University of Nitra was constituted by fusion of Pedagogical faculty and Agricultural University in Nitra, which was event in the same year divided to Agricultural University and Pedagogical University. Present title of this University is since 1996 according to Code No. 324/1996.
