This geocache is located in Kaunislammen conservation area (primeval area). All the hikers in the area must follow all regulations, limitations and instructions concerning the area.
(FIN) Kaunislampi on Syötteen kansallispuiston länsipuolella sijaitseva luonnonsuojelualue (aarnialue). Noin 2 km pituiselta järven ympärillä kulkevalta reitiltä voi ihailla Kaunislammen rotkojärveä. Järven itärannan kalliojyrkänne on syntynyt kallioperän murrokseen. Toinen nähtävyys alueella on muinaisrantakivikko Kaunislammen länsipuolella, joka syntyi mannerjäätikön vetäytymisen yhteydessä yli 9 000 vuotta sitten. Silloin jäätiköiden sulamisvedestä peräisin oleva meri peitti Kaunislammen aluetta, vain vaarojen kärjet olivat meren pinnan ylläpuolella.
Retken päätteeksi voi viettää hetken aikaa geokätköilyyn tai lepoon järven eteläpuolella sijaitsevalla päivätuvalla.
Kaunislammelle pääsee Ruuhensuon tien varressa olevalta pysäköintipaikalta 1,9 km pituista reittiä pitkin.
(ENG) Kaunislampi is a conservation area on west side of Syöte National park. The gulley lake of Kaunislampi can be admired on a trail that goes around the lake. The trail is about 2 km long. The cliff on the eastside of lake was formed to the fracture of bedrock. Another sight on the area is an ancient rock bank on west side of the lake which is formed on withdraw of a continental glacier over 9 000 years ago. At that time the sea of glaciers melting water covered the area of Kaunislampi. Only the tips of the hills were above the sea level.
At south end of the lake you can take few minutes for cache seeking. There is also a day cottage for resting.
You can access the Kaunislampi area from the parking place near of the Ruuhensuo road. Trail is about 1,9 km to the lake from the parking place.
