Horha

Kätkö sijaitsee Ylöjärven ja Tampereen rajalla, lähellä vanhaa Horhan laskettelurinnettä. / The cache is located on the border of Ylöjärvi and Tampere, near the old slalom slope of Horha.

Horhan laskettelurinne avattiin 1950-60 luvun vaihteessa. Viimeisen kerran laskettelurinne oli auki kaudella 1991-1992, jonka jälkeen hissi siirrettiin muualle.

Rinteen pituus on noin 150 metriä ja korkeusero melkein 60 metriä. Nykyään talvella mäki toimii pulkkamäkenä ja on kovassa käytössä.

Horhan alueella on myös joskus ajettu motocross kisoja. Kisoja sai ajaa vain yhden vuodessa liiallisen melusaasteen takia. Kisat päätettiin kuitenkin lopettaa vakavan kuolemaan johtaneen onnettomuuden jälkeen.

Horha on osa Teivaalanharjua, joka sijaitsee pääosin Ylöjärven kaupungissa. Harju on suoraa jatketta mm. Kangasalan kuuluisille harjuille sekä niin ikään laajalti tunnetuille Tampereen Vilusenharjulle, Kalevankankaalle, Pyynikille, Pispalan- ja Epilänharjulle. Harjulla on myös hyvät ulkoilumahdollisuudet.

Avaa purkki varovasti ja sulje se kunnolla! Polkupyörällä pääsee lähelle kätköä, mutta loppu kannattaa kävellä.

Horha's slalom slope was built at the turn of the 1950s and 1960s. Last time the slope was in common usage at season 1991-1992 and after that the lift was moved elsewhere.

Slope length is about 150 m and height difference is almost 60 m. Today in the winter the slope is in active use by children sliding in the snow with sleds.

Formerly, motocross races have been arranged in the Horha area. It was only allowed to have a race once a year because of the disturbing noise. The decision to stop the races was made after a serious accident where one person lost his life.

Horha is a part of Teivaala esker, which mainly belongs to the town of Ylöjärvi. The esker is in direct connection to the famous Kangasala eskers as well as the widely-known Tampere Vilusenharju, Kalevankangas, Pyynikki, Pispalanharju and Epilänharju eskers. There are great possibilities to take outdoor exercise in the esker area.

Open the cache carefully and close it firmly! You can get near the cache by bike, but it is simplest to walk the rest.
