Geocache Description:

It get's too hot to stay at home some days. This was one of those days. 112 degrees at home, time to head for the mountains.
We took a day trip up to Kennedy Meadows to get away from the summer heat. Why not place a cache on the way? The cache is a regular size lock and lock hidden near a tree. It's an easy grab, parking in a dirt turn-off directly across from it. It's on the unburned side of the forest near a fallen tree.
The elevation of the cache is 7500 feet so plan accordingly. In the winter months it may be under snow. Chains may be required in the area so check local conditions before attempting this mountain drive up a typical Sierra Nevada road. Well worth the drive.
There are more caches along this route and at the nearby campgrounds. The South Fork of the Kern River is nearby for some fishing or just wading in the cool water.
