World's First Royal Cache
Hidden in the vineyards belonging to the Danish Prince Henrik.
On July 23rd 2009 the Danish newspaper Morgenavisen Jyllands-Posten's journalist Jakob Vølver aka. Kaptajn Stedblind managed to get the attention of the Danish Prince Henrik (age 75) during a ceremony. The two had a chat about geocaching while the rest of the small town Gråsten in southern Denmark celebrated the queen and Prince Henrik's arrival to their summer castle in Gråsten.
The journalist handed the prince a can of kippers (small herring) which the prince brought back home with him.
Kippers was the first geocache ever to be made in Denmark in 2000 so it is legendary to Danish geocachers.
The 75 year old prince later got his staff to contact the journalist to learn more about geocaching and get instructions on how to use the kippers to create the worlds first genuine royal geocache.
Being French the prince had the kippers transportet from Denmark to France to hide his treasure in the vineyards by his French chateau.
