Geocache Description:

Yes, it is back! This is a boat required picnic!

This is an event where getting there is more than half the fun! Whether you have gas to burn or you want to give your arms a work out come join us for a picnic on one of Lake Erie’s many islands. OnD’Hunt will be leading the self propelled group that will be departing at 9:00am from N41 44.590 and W83 28.537. This is a Michigan DNR ramp at the end of Algonquin Street off of Summit Street in Erie, MI. The DNR ramp is know as Halfway Creek Boat Access, but we have not been able to find any additional information about it on the DNR website. schwnman99 will be coordinating the gas guzzlers but departure times and locations will be up to the individual boat captains.

The rendezvous time will be at 10:30am at the posted coords. Check back regularly for updates and details as they develop. Obviously, weather (including wave heights) could be a factor with this event. Please check back or e-mail one of us if you are uncertain about the weather’s affect on the event. We are planning for September 6th as the rain date and we will reschedule out further if need be.

To keep things simple, this is a BYOP (“Bring Your Own Picnic”), Picnic! Each cacher will be responsible for bringing their own food and drink. It is up to you how fancy you want to make your picnic. Style points (in the form of bragging rights) will be awarded for the most creative!! If any paddlers need help delivering a cooler to the island we will assist with arranging delivery through one of the power boats. Just e-mail one of us.

See you on the island!

Update August 31, 2009:

The picnic is right around the corner and the weather sounds good. In an effort to help organize the two armadas, I have attached a spread sheet of the boats that are going. See you on the island.
