The cache is placed at a small public beach, a great place to relax during a road trip. Take the opportunity to swim in the Mara Lake on the edge of the House Boat Capital of the World.
Mara Lake was named for John Andrew Mara who was a prominent politician and business man in the Shuswap Region.
One of the first to run a fleet of steamers in the interior lakes, taking advantage of the Big Bend Gold Rush towards Seymour Arm. Mara owned a general store in Seymour Arm and Kamloops acting as both a baron of supplies and transportation in the area.
Mara was a rancher along this side of Mara Lake and became a significant western politician in both provincial and national member of legislation.
