Geocache Description:

Varney Point along Lake Michigan shore. Rocky bluff can be slippery when water is high and rough. For closest free parking start at Europe Bay parking at these coordinates: N45 15.570 W86 59.120 which requires a 10 mile round trip hike. For a four mile round trip, drop off at coordinates: N45 14.073 W86 59.937 starting at the Monarch trail. Otherwise pay a fee at the park gate and park at parking lot 1 or 2. Bug repellent may be needed.

Hike is on relatively level ground but cache location is rather rocky and can be difficult. The cache is a tupperware container. Bushwhacking may be required when the campsites are full. Check with park ranger which trail to take to Varney Point to avoid campers. Park has requested geocachers not to enter campsites that are occupied. The ranger's number is 920-854-2500. Varney Point was owned by my grandparents Bob and Beth Varney before they sold it to the park. Please enjoy this cache and area as our family has for years. Have fun!! The Geocache Notification Form has been submitted to Michelle Hefty of the Wisconsin DNR. Geocaches placed on Wisconsin Department of Natural Resource managed lands require permission by means of a notification form. A paper copy of the notification form was filled in with all required information, then submitted to the land manager and approved. The DNR Notification form and land manager information can be obtained at: http://www.wi-geocaching.com/modules.php?name=Wiki&pagename=Hiding%20A%20Cache
