This cache is a nano hidden in a grassy area above the flood control chutes of the Hoosic River.
North Adams prospered in the 1800's and early 1900's due to the power of the Hoosic River. Mills and Factories were built near the river which provided a source of power and a way to dispose of waste. Occasionally devastating flooding of the the Hoosic River would destroy businesses and homes along the river. To provide protection for property from the river, flood control chutes were built in the 1940's and 1950's by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
The cache is located across the river from MASS MoCA, the largest center for contemporary visual art and performing arts in the country.
