Charlotte, a kindly woman, loved all creatures and established this feature to help the beasts of burden on their way up the nearby hills on their way to the Huon and surrounding districts.
This tender lady passed across in 1921 and is now at rest in the cemetery at Lower Longley.
I have been told that on the day of her funeral, the ground was covered with thick snow and the hearse could not get to her house just above the feature. She was carried from her home to the road and the waiting vehicle, before she commenced her final journey along the same track taken by the animals that she so willingly helped along the way.
Lovers of old machinery may be interested in those situated to the right of GZ.
