Mark your calendars for the
3rd Annual West Bend $1,000

Cache Ba$h

Friday, August 13 &
Saturday, August 14, 2010
Regner Park, West Bend, WI

West Bend, Wisconsin, the "Geocaching Capital of the Midwest"™, boasts over 450 caches within a 7-mile radius of the city, and we're celebrating geocaching by offering a weekend full of geocaching activities!

The West Bend $1000 Cache Ba$h is an annual free family-oriented get-together for geocachers hosted by the West Bend Area Chamber of Commerce, assisted by local geocachers. We became a Mega event last year with over 1100 attendees! The Cache Ba$h weekend is chock full of fun things to do starting Friday afternoon and lasting through Sunday morning.

Besides the opportunity to socialize with a lot of other geocachers in a great geocaching-friendly city, we will again be giving away $1000 in cash prizes as well as geocoins, geocaching items, and other great prizes. We're also currently planning to hide 50 new permanent caches of varying terrain and difficulty in the West Bend area for you to find!

Watch this listing throughout the year as plans are updated and finalized!

SATURDAY: Regner Park

7 a.m. - 10 a.m. REGISTRATION, DOWNLOADS, & MORNING REFRESHMENTS at Regner Park where geocachers can download the 50 new cache coordinates, register for the contest, get their cash drawing raffle ticket, and pick up the official playing cards. Thank you to the WGA and volunteers for allowing us to use their downloading equipment, people and supplies! Coffee, donuts and other items will be available to purchase. They will also be available in the afternoon as cachers come back for snacks and sodas. Garbage bags will be available for cachers to CITO throughout the day.

7 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. MOST CREATIVE CACHE CONTEST ENTRY Any age. Design a unique cache container to be voted on by your peers. No names on the container. Submit your entry by 10 a.m. at the marked tent. You may submit multiple containers to try to win the most creative contest, but only 1 raffle ticket will be given per team with an entry. Voting will take place between 4 pm to 5:30 pm, and a prize will be awarded for the container voted as best. Be sure to vote for your favorite!

8 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. THE GREAT GEO-RACE ENTRY (Kids' Activity) For ages 12 and under. Limit 25. Kids may pick a geocache container we provide and decorate or camouflage it if desired. With parental guidance, they will then hide it in Regner Park, obeying cache-hiding rules, learn how to mark the position with a waypoint, and turn in their coordinates. Later in the day, adult cachers will "Race" to find the hidden containers. Prizes will be awarded to the adult who brings back the first hidden container and the kid whose container is last to be found (within the one hour race deadline).

7 a.m. - 6 pm WISCONSIN GEOCACHING ASSOCIATION BOOTH The WGA will have a booth to introduce you to this great organization for Wisconsin geocachers. They will be printing WGA name tags and may have WGA merchandise. There will be someone on hand to answer beginner questions and provide technical assistance if needed.

9:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. BEGINNING GEOCACHING CLASS hosted by the Wisconsin Geocaching Association. If you are new to the sport of geocaching and want more information and tips, plan to attend this class at Regner Park. After some "classroom" instruction, participants will get a chance to use a GPS unit to find caches hidden in the park (some loaner GPS units will be available).

10 a.m. GEOGOLF ENTRY DEADLINE Pick any location in Regner Park and mark it on your GPS as a waypoint. A GeoGolf entry form will be given to each team at registration. Turn in your coordinates and team name on the entry form at the marked table. The closest waypoint to the pre-chosen coordinates will win a prize!

10 a.m. REGISTRATION DEADLINE Teams must register at Regner Park before this time in order to receive goody bags, printed materials, and be eligible for the prize drawings. Goody bags of teams who have not registered by 10am may be redistributed to other teams on a first come, first served basis.
