Geocache Description:

This cache is located ON a bridge in Los Altos that crosses Permanente Creek.

Permanente Creek was named "Permanente" by the Spanish because it was a reliable source of water that didn't dry up in the summer. It flows through land formerly owned by the Kaiser Cement Company. The company was started by Henry J. Kaiser, who had a house in the hills next to Permanente Creek. He also created Kaiser Permanente, one of the country's earliest, and now largest, HMO for his employees. Kaiser Permanente was named after the creek.
