The leaves are changing and the bugs are gone.
It's time to hit the trails again for another GAG event!

Geocaches in the Nation's Capital are ripe for the picking again and we're counting on you to join in on the harvest!
Whether you're reaping last year's fruit or a new batch of freshly placed caches in the area, it's time to tramp the trails and bring in a good yield, then join us for a barn busting good time at the meet and great.

Most of you old hands already know how this works, but for those whose tractors still have that fresh from the factory smell, or for those whose hands are so callused from past harvests, they have a hard time grasping the concept, check here for additional information.

Whether you've been up all night caching under the stars, or just want to show up at the hall on Saturday to meet new people and swap geocaching stories with old friends, everyone is welcome! Here's where we're meeting:

Knights of Columbus
260 McArthur Avenue
Vanier, ON

N 45°25.879 W 075° 39.504

Other needed information:

  • We all get together and swap stories at the above coordinates at 6 PM Saturday, October 17th.
  • The hall does not have a restaurant / kitchen, so bring your own dinner. This cuts down on costs for everyone and allows freedom of movement around the hall without being tied to a table and a bill. Visit the additional information page for some suggestions on where to pick up some grub.
  • A cash bar is available for those who want to toast some FTFs or drowns their DNF sorrows.
  • It would be great if you could bring a door prize along, and if you will have children with you (or are one at heart), it would be wonderful if you could bring a kid's prize as well. All kids (big and small) like to go home with prizes, and they always look forward to that part of the evening.
  • If you have any ideas to add to this event, please send us an email via our profile and we will try to incorporate them.
  • Please post a note on this page indicating if you can make it and how many will be in your party.
  • Please email us if you want to volunteer. We will do our best to find some work for you.

Happy hiding and seeking! See you at the hall on the 17th, or perhaps on the trails on Friday night...

260 McArthur Avenue
Vanier, ON

N 45°25.879 W 075° 39.504

Autres informations importantes:

this bug is not gone! :)

it was a perfect 24 hours, really. managed about 4 hours of sleep, 1 FTF, 32 GAG14 caches, 0 GAG14 DNFs, 2 non-GAG caches and a few more i'd already found, with my hotel guests for the weekend (Dr. House and The Blue Quasar)! so many great times were had, including muddy trails with splashy mud that runs down your jeans into your rubber boot (!), seeing frosty poison ivy, finding unique and creative cache listings and containers, eating too much fast food (the tim hortons frosted cinnamon buns are not worth it!), a giant wasp nest, seeing my face on a cache guardian (!), an exclamation point shaped rainbow, a great turn-out at the event venue, finding out that petendot's pierre will be carrying the olympic torch through ottawa (!!), birdhouse-and-batteries-winning bingo, a gold bug (VW) with GLD BUG licence plate, a BEEZZZ license plate, good tunes in Dr. House's pattywagon, encountering awesome cachers in scary masks, and much much more!

THANK YOU members of the CCC committee for putting this event together. your time and effort is appreciated.

logging this as found on the 19th so this log is not overlooked, even though i was there on the 17th with the rest of you ;)
