Easter Monday
5th April 2010

Welcome to Australia’s first ever exciting Geocaching Mega Event to be held in Wagga Wagga which is located in the heart of the Riverina region in Southern Central NSW.

Registration is now Open.

Wagga Wagga is the largest inland city in NSW with a population of over 60,000. The city is very close to the geographical centre between Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide and is nestled on the banks of the magnificent Murrumbidgee River. There are approx. 140 geocaches located within a 20 km radius.

Wagga Wagga is a dynamic and cosmopolitan regional city with thriving businesses and boasts fantastic sports and arts communities.  The city offers a temperate climate, is rich in cultural heritage and has a wealth of fantastic attractions making it an ideal destination for visitors all year round.  It is the gateway to many attractions within the Riverina.

The Oz Mega location is at “Camp Kurrajong” within the Kurrajong Reserve, north east of the city, on the road to Oura (named the Gundagai or Oura Road), about 9 km from the north end of the main street of the city, Fitzmaurice Street. The 15 acres of natural bush reserve is owned by the Scout Association,"Riverina Division".

Included in the amenities are two large halls, 2 toilet blocks, 2 shower blocks, bunk dormitories for 81 people, which includes bedrooms with a choice of either 4 beds or 8 beds in them. But the highlight is a picturesque facility with privacy all around, and is the ideal location for geocachers, as it is very flat and has ample camping facilities.

For full details, including registration (now open), the event program, camping and accommodation, and a whole lot more, please visit the Oz Mega Wagga Wagga website.
Or keep a "watch" on this event to receive updates to the listing.

Cost to Register

The cost to register and attend Oz Mega Wagga Wagga is AU$30 per Geocaching login name until the end of February, and afterwards AU$40 per team for late entries. This is necessary to cover the many costs of hosting such a big event and also includes a Wagga Wagga information pack and a very special Oz Mega Geocoin for every registered entry.

Camping on Site

For those wishing to camp on site, the camping fees will be AU$5 per person (over the age of 5) per night for the 3 nights - $15 for the weekend, and the bunk costs will be AU$20 for each person per night - $60 for the weekend. There is no power for caravans at the site.  The caravan parks in Wagga Wagga will have ample room, if you book early.

The Riverina Geocaching Committee invites you to this unique event.

Please provide your intent by placing a “Will Attend” log on this page with the following details -

Although I have found & moved on TB's before, I have not been to an event, so amunsure how the massive (and still growing) list of TB's and coins etc works so far as attendees are concerned, do all that see one log it as found?.
Can't see any clear info in any FAQ's I checked. Could someone pls give more details.

Oh, and a recent "attended" note by grab1 seems to be spam? or did I misinterpret it?

The Committee implemented this idea for the comfort of all on site campers awhile back. The details are listed on the FAQ's link.
There will be 3.5 KG bags and 10 KG bags available all 4 days of the event for the campers benefits at reasonable prices.
Riverina Ice are actually a sponsor and can be found on the sponsors page. There will be 2 , three metre high mobile ice chests packed with bags plus back up supplies on standby for delivery. Thanks for enquiry .

The toilets and showers enquiry is also under control with plenty of on site blocks, plus extras being brought in for the event in the infrastructure set up, on the 4 days prior by ,Committee and all concerned.
Thankfully,
Greg
President
