S. Pedro do Açor é o ponto mais alto da serra do Açor.
Situada na Cordilheira Central, entre a Serra da Lousã e a Serra da Estrela, abrangendo os concelhos de Arganil e Pampilhosa da Serra, a Serra do Açor é uma zona de montanha predominantemente xistosa, que se estende por uma área de 346 hectares e é atravessada por dois pequenos cursos de água: a Ribeira da Mata da Margaraça e a Barroca de Degraínhos.
Marcada fundamentalmente pelo encaixe dos Vales do Alva e do Ceira, afluentes do Mondego, a Serra do Açor tem nesses vales uma monumentalidade única onde os socalcos mostram o saber e o engenho da gente.
Em Arganil a Serra do Açor do alto dos seus 1349 metros deslumbra-nos os olhos. Serra acima, a paisagem deixa-se descobrir generosamente, e por entre as curvas, as casas de xisto do Piódão, que parecem estar em precário equilíbrio, desenham um quadro surpreendente. Os Penedos do Fajão, por cima da aldeia do Fajão marcam o carácter da Pampilhosa da Serra.
Mas há na Serra do Açor segredos delicados: o lírio-martagão, a gilbadeira, o carvalho-alvarinho ou o selo-de-Salomão que fazem parte de uma sinfonia em plena Mata da Margaraça.

S. Pedro do Açor is the highest peak of the Açor mountain
Situated in the Central Cordillera between the Lousã and the Estrela Mountains and including the Municipalities of Arganil and Pampilhosa da Serra, the Açor Mountain is a schistose mountain whose area (around 346 hectares) is crossed by two water streams: the Ribeira da Mata da Margaraça and the Barroca de Degraínhos.
The groove valleys of the Alva and Ceira Rivers, both afluents of the Mondego, where the proeminent aspect of the agricultured fields is marked by the terraced slopes, give the landscape a unique monumentality where the terraces show the know-how and entrepreneurship of the people.
In Arganil, the Açor Mountain (1349 metres high) dazzle our eyes. Up the mountain, we discover the landscape and in between curves the schist houses, which seem to be hanging dangerously, paint an enchanting picture. The Fajão Cliffs, situated above the Fajão village, mark the character of Pampilhosa da Serra.
But there are other delicate secrets in the Açor Mountain: the martagon lily, the butcher's broom, the common oak or the Solomon's seal are part of a symphony in Mata da Margaraça.
