Geocache Description:

This is a series of caches on the Historic Columbia River Highway at each mile marker from Troutdale to Dodson. You will see some of Oregon’s historical places, so slow down and smell the roses. The cache is a small plastic container, painted green.

Congratulations to the Shelriks for First to Find

Columbia River Highway, from the Oregon coast to Pendleton, was constructed between 1913 and 1922. Sam Hill, of Maryhill Estate, advocated for construction of a scenic highway in the Columbia River Gorge.
By the 1920s, the Columbia River Highway extended beyond The Dalles to just west of Pendleton about 200 miles east of Portland. The road east of that point became the Old Oregon Trail Highway and headed southeast toward Boise, Idaho. During the teens and 1920s, the Columbia River Highway was also lengthened from Portland about 80 miles west to the rivers mouth at Astoria. For in-depth historical information I recommend that you stop at the series and read the plaques. *ALR* Please take photos to upload them when you log your visit.
It's a fun drive, so have fun.
