Geocache Description:

THE STORY

I recently lost a good friend and fellow geocacher, though none of you have probably ever met him. I met him quite by accident a few years ago while geocaching on this very trail. We cache-talked(as he liked to call it) for an hour and became instant friends. His name was William but he never would tell me what his caching name was, he said "just call me Bill". He started geocaching in early 2002, but has never signed into a cache or logged a find online. He would often just sit at the cache site and read the logs of previous cachers who have passed through. He preferred hikes with great scenery and rugged terrain to nanos and parking lot micros, which he avoided like the plague.

We occasionally cached together on the Bruce Trail and around the Niagara Escarpment, though he asked that I not mention him in my logs. The only thing we ever talked about was geocaching... have you done such and such, I need a hint for this one, you have to try this cache... it's so cool! I told him about the cachers I had met at events and on the trails. I talked endlessly about the cachers I know well enough to call my friends and all the great adventures I'd been on with them. He once told me that if he ever bumped into any of my friends he would know who they were before they even introduced themselves.

Now that Bill is gone I felt that I should pay a small tribute to him. Though none of you may know him, in some way he already knows many of you.

THE CACHE

You will find an ammo can at the posted coordinates. It is a short bushwhack off the main trail. The 'front' is facing directly away from the trail. Move only the rock in front. Follow the instructions in the cache. You can find the code for the final on the front or back of the logbook.
