NL: Teunisbloem is een familienaam voor ongeveer 125 soorten. Oorspronkelijk komt de plant uit Noord- en Zuidamerika, maar is inmiddels ingeburgerd in vele landen. / EN: The evening primrose is a family of flowers which consist of approximately 125 species. The plant has its origin in Northern and Southern America but nowadays she is widely spread in many countries.
(English text below) De botanische naam voor Teunisbloem is Oenothera. Hierin zijn twee oud-Griekse woorden te herkennen. Oeno betekent ezel en Thera is achtervolgen / vangen. Dit duidt waarschijnlijk op de giftigheid van de plant die gebruikt wordt om ezels en andere dieren te vangen. Het kenmerk van bijna alle soorten uit de teunisbloemfamilie is de gele bloemen met vier kroonbladen, alhoewel er ook soorten bestaan met roze en witte bladeren. De zaaddoos bevat ongeveer 200 zaadjes. Hier kan kostbare teunisbloemolie uit gewonnen worden.
Aan teunisbloemolie wordt een heilzame werking toegekend. Het is rijk aan onverzadigde vetzuren en het zou bij inwendig gebruik heilzaam zijn tegen klachten van menopauze, reuma, overgewicht door stofwisselingsstoornissen, hart en vaatziekten, hoge bloeddruk, astma, hooikoorts, allergieën, leverklachten door alcohol, hyperactiviteit, geïrriteerdheid, huidklachten, ontwenningsverschijnselen (alcoholisme) en katers. Uitwendig zou de olie werken tegen huidschilfers, roodheid van de huid, psoriasis en een droge huid. Echter, gebruik door mensen met manische depressiviteit wordt afgeraden.
In de tweede wereldoorlog werd teunisbloem zelfs gebruikt als tabak.
En nu de cache. De cache is een micro. De Noordwijkerhoutse teunisbloem is de naam van een pleintje waar de cache te vinden is. Echte teunisbloem zul je hier helaas niet vinden. Je zoekt een transparant kokertje met een blauwe dop waarin alleen een logrolletje en een potloodje zit. De cache ligt op de rand van privegebied. Je hoeft geen privegebied te betreden. Meestal is dit ook niet mogelijk, maar probeer het a.u.b. niet. De eigenaar van het privegebied is op de hoogte van de cache (dochter en schoonzoon zijn zelfs deelnemers aan het spel en eigenaars van de cache). Je hebt kans dat ze lachend een praatje komt maken. Ze is een 'semi-muggler', maar kan het spel zeker wel waarderen. De cache is een micro, er is geen ruimte voor goodies, TB's en coins. Duw na het loggen het containertje a.u.b. weer stevig terug op de plaats anders kan deze bij een flinke wind weg waaien.
De cache is overigens een 'grab-and-run'. Verwacht geen moeilijke zoektocht of een pitoreske omgeving. Als je daar van houdt moet je deze vooral laten liggen. Beter van te voren gemeld dan achteraf gezeur, niet?

The botinical name for the evening prime rose is oenothera, which consist of two ancient Greek words. Oena means donkey and Thera means chasing / catching. Most likely this points to the fact that the plant is poisoned and was used to catch donkeys and other animals. The characteristic of most species of the evening prime rose family are the yellow flowers although species with pink and white flowers exist. The flowers keep up to 200 seeds. Oil can be made out of the seeds.
Evening prime rose oil has a medicinal effect. It is rich of unsaturated fats and would help against rheumatoid arthritis, cardial diseases, high blood pressure, asthmatic diseases, allergies, and effects of alchohol. Externaly used it should help against red skin, psoriasis and dry skins. In case you have a manic depression don’t use the oil.
In the second world war evening prime rose is even used as tobacco.
And now the cache. The cache is a micro. You're looking for a little transparent tube with a blue cap which only contains a logrol and a little pencil.
The cache is on the edge of a private property. You don't have to enter the private area. Most of the time this isn't possible but please don't try it.
