This cache has been archived.

WVTim: I'm going to archive this night cache. It's been a good one and has proven some fun night caching. Thanks to the many who gave it a favorite vote. i'm taking this one out, but a new one is going in nearby. The new cache will be in time for the Maryland Geocaching Picnic in Hancock MD in Oct.

Geocache Description:

A NIGHT cache, one of three located just off Hampshire Road in Sleepy Creek WMA. The other 2 night cache are Sleepy at Night ( GC1Z2GG ) and Haunting Hides "Sleepy Moonshine" A night cache
(GC1ZC3J). They all are within a one mile stretch on Hampshire Road.

Cache is about .3 mile from trailhead. Park at the coordinates above. You will be on Hampshire Road, there is a sign that says Beacon Trail. You will be hiking on the Tuscarora Trail which is marked with Blue blazes. The trail is wide and somewhat rocky. It's a beautiful walk up a gentle grade. The only "Beacon" on this trail tonight will be your flashlight. This is also a great day hike, the Beacon Tower and the Beacon Cache are at the top of this trail. It is the highest spot in the county and the views from the top are breath taking!!

There is a traditional cache "White-tailed Deer" (GC1P5BZ) bordering this trail that you will be passing on the way to this night cache. The cache is in a downed hollow tree actually touching the trail and bearing to the right. While your hiking to this night cache, you might want to stop and find "White-tailed Deer". So, bring your GPS along for this traditional cache it will be and easy find.

Park at the coordinates posted. Then start looking for white reflectors. When you come to two (2) reflectors on one tree (large pine) , look to your right for more reflectors. When you come to the red arrow, you are at the cache. It's so easy you can find it in the dark. :)

Bring a strong light with extra batteries. Don't be caught in these woods without a light. Packs of Coyotes roam these woods at night. You won't have to be concerned about hunting season on this NIGHT cache, at night..... YOU will be the hunted. If you are making lots of noise you will "hopefully" be safe. No bushwacking is necessary. The cache is only about 100 ft. off the trail.

Please take care to hide back exactly as found. I constructed a "garage" of stones to protect the cache. Simply remove the flat stone that is in front to reach the cache container.
