Just be careful turning into parking area from this busy roadway and be mindful of the nearby water. Many alligators are present.
A special place to find a geocache in the middle of the Everglades. A place that you would have to go off road a bit to find. The property is privately owned and with the owners permission, geocachers may park and find the geocache that is hidden here. Although the Big Cypress National Preserve surrounds this location it is not in the park. Please respect and enjoy as it is a great spot to see that would normally need to go off road to experience such natural beauty.
As your journey across the open road takes you through the strands and villages you can almost blink and miss this beautiful spot.
Once in the parking area and just a stroll over to the cypress swamp where a beautiful Strangler Fig guards this cache. This spot is truly a gallery of nature. This spot makes a great photo as older Cypress, Strangler Fig and wild orchids frame your photo. The property once belonged to an orchid enthusiast who later sold the property to Clyde and Niki Butcher. There are a few times a year when the muggles are everywhere here to experience “Muck About”, a guided tour in waist deep water of the everglades just beyond the cache.
