You will need a 4WD vehicle, ATV, or motorcycle to get to this
cache, and it is available only when the snow has melted. However,
you will be richly rewarded for your efforts with breathtaking
views of the Needles.
Sloan's Point is the site of a former Forest Fire Lookout. As
such, it qualifies for the
Idaho Forest Fire Lookout Challenge. The footings are still
there, and one of them is marked with the name Aermotor, which is a
company that manufactures steel windmills for farms. They also made
the structure for the platform at the Carey Dome Lookout. The cab
for the lookout can be found in McCall, ID, next to the Central
Idaho Historical Museum.
