[EN] A mystery cache that can only be solved if you dig into the
history of the park!
[FI] Kupittaanpuisto on vehreä kokokansan puisto Turun
keskustan tuntumassa. Se on päässyt todistamaan Suomen pitkää ja
polveilevaa historiaa ensimmäisten kristittyjen kastamisesta Juhana
Herttuan kautta Suomen jalkapalloilun alkuvaiheisiin. Nykyään
puistosta löytyvät muun muassa lintutarha, lasten liikennepuisto
sekä laaja joukko erilaisia liikunta- ja urheilufasiliteetteja
kuten jäähalli, maauimala ja Veritas-stadion.
Ratkaistaksesi varsinaisen kätkön sijainnin tulee sinun perehtyä
Kupittaanpuistoon ja sen historiaan. Vastaukset kaikkiin alla
esitettäviin kysymyksiin ovat löydettävissä sekä internetin
välityksellä että paikanpäältä puistosta. Vastaamalla kysymyksiin
oikein saat numeroita, joiden avulla voit ratkaista kysymyksien
alta löytyvät laskutoimitukset. Tulokset täydentävät itse kätkön

puistossa tai sen tuntumassa. Kätköpurkkiin mahtuu pieniä
vaihtoesineitä. Runsas lumentulo saattaa vaikuttaa purkin
löytyvyyteen.

a. Kupittaan puistosta löytyy komea kuvataiteilija Jussi Mäntysen
Hirvi-veistos. Kupittaan hirvi ei kuitenkaan ole alkuperäinen teos,
sillä se on pystytetty Pietariin 1928. Turun lisäksi jäljennökset
veistoksesta on pystytetty myös Helsinkiin ja Lahteen. Minä vuonna
jäljennös on pystytetty Kupittaalle?
b. Vuonna 1820 Kupittaan kylpylän viereen avattiin puisto
kylpylävieraille. Mikä tämän puiston ala oli hehtaareina?
c. Kupittaanpuistosta ja sen tuntumasta löytyy useita
liikuntamahdollisuuksia kuten maauimala. Kuinka monta uima-allasta

e. Kupittaanpuistossa sijaitsee myös historiallisesti merkittävä

[EN] Kupittaanpuisto (Kupittaanpuisto Park) is a green
public park near by the center of Turku. It has a long history and
has witnessed many historical events. Nowadays you can find a bird
bond, an adventure park and traffic park for children and multiple
sports facilities such as outdoors swimming area and hockey
ring.
To solve this mystery you need to learn something about
Kupittaanpuisto and its history. Answers to questions b, c, d, f, g
and h can be found from the Internet in English, but a and e only
in Finnish. How ever you can easily solve a and e in the park. Also
answers to the other questions can be found in the park but for
most of them you will need knowledge of Finnish or Swedish
language. You will get different numbers as answers and with those
you can solve the calculations that reveal the rest of the actual
coordinates.
The above coordinates are false but if you are solving the whole
mystery in the park that might be a good starting point.

a. There is a statue of a moose (Hirvi) in the park made by Finnish

but a copy of a statue first revealed in Viipuri in 1928. There are
other copies of the statue in Helsinki and Lahti. At what year was

b. In 1820 a park was opened next to the spa at Kupittaa. How many
hectares was the area of the park back then?
c. One of the many sport facilities at Kupittaanpuisto Park is
Kupittaa Outdoor Swimming Arena (Kupittaan maauimala). How many
actual pools there are?
d. How many water slides over 20m long there are at the outdoors
swimming pool?
e. There is a historically important spring in the park. According
a legend of tradition Bishop Henrik baptized the first pagan Finns
into Christianity there. Later it has functioned as a health
spring. Nowadays there is a small octagon shaped pavilion placed
