Geocache Description:

A new statue of the iconic symbol of Spain

Pilar de la Horadada has a new identity. This staue is situated on a roundabout off the N332 and AP7 at junction #770.

The statue was erected in September 2009, and created by the artist, Pedro Manuel Moya - known as "Manu".

PiLar de la Horadada tiene una nueva seña de identidad. Y es que todos aquellos que lleguen al municipio desde la autopista se encontrarán con un gran toro de hierro presidiendo la redonda de acceso. La figura, obra del artista local, Pedro Manuel Moya, Manú, desfiló en el año 2001 por las calles de Pilar de la Horadada participando en el Concurso de Carrozas de las Fiestas Patronales de la mano de la peña Rincón del Silencio. No obtuvo premio y la polémica quedó servida. Tras conocer el veredicto del jurado, la peña sacó a la calle de nuevo al toro en señal de protesta y aquella anécdota perdura hoy entre quienes lo vieron y quienes no. El toro fue “la carroza que desfiló dos veces”, en palabras del alcalde del municipio, Ignacio Ramos, que, acompañado del concejal de Festejos, Alfonso Armenteros, del concejal de Participación Ciudadana, Juan Ramón Moya, y de los miembros de la directiva de la peña en cuestión, inauguró recientemente la escultura, que custodia una placa conmemorativa de este hecho.
