Do I do requests? Yes, I do requests. This one goes out to wiskey33 who was wondering why I hadn't yet published a cache based on Sesame Street's 40th anniversary being celebrated this week. Maybe they are fans of CBS Sunday Morning as well. Every Sunday morning after the show I have to keep myself from going straight to the computer lest I create more insidious puzzles than I already do.

Given 40 years broadcasting it would be quite easy to create a difficult puzzle based in an infinite amount of show trivia, the hard part, however, is putting together a puzzle that has some merit in solving. To me, the most significant thing about those 40 years is the fact that the show is being carried in countries all over the world. You'd expect it to show up in neighboring Canada but more surprising to find versions in Egypt and Northern Ireland as well as East Germany and Poland; just a few of the former communist-block countries, Islamic middle-eastern nations or poverty-stricken third-world countries it can be found airing. The appeal and worth of the programme is trans-political, trans-social and trans-economical. Add to that the capacity of the guests to cover taboo topics like death, AIDS, breast-feeding, equal-rights and military service, typically taboo for pre-school type programming, and it's no wonder the show, even after 40 years, has remained relevant while others might with that long of a run have gone stale.
Excerpted from wiki
Shortly after the debut of the children's television program, Sesame Street in the US in 1969, the show's producers and the executives of Children's Television Workshop, were approached by television producers, educators, and officials of several countries about the possibility of airing international versions of Sesame Street. A flexible model, based upon the experiences of the creators and producers of the US show, was developed. The shows came to be called "co-productions", and they contained original sets, characters, and curriculum goals. Depending upon each country's needs and resources, different versions were produced, from dubbed versions of the original show to independent co-productions. By 2006, there were twenty co-productions in countries all over the world and by the show's 40th anniversary, they are seen in more than 140 countries worldwide.

Open Sesame is a children's television series composed solely of the skits and segments of the long-running American television series Sesame Street. While some countries air the American program in whole, and some create their own versions of the show, many more air this title of loosely associated skits, as Open Sesame.

Match the Muppets to either the cause or the country then use the picture clues to find the year in question using the last digit of the year to solve the puzzle.

As with all tribute puzzles, please allow the tributee ample time to make the FTF.
