Spectacular views of Santa Barbara surrounded by huge boulders and pine trees.
This is one of my favorite spots in Santa Barbara. There are at least five ways to get up to this spot, some more difficult than others. Even on the 'easy' way it is steep and you will have to climb over boulders to get to the cache. Once you get up to the top of the ridge there are many small trails and you will get lost in them. Parts of the trails are obvious, parts you will have to look for footprints in the sand, cuttings in the scrub and, worn spots on the boulders. Whatever you do, do not try to go cross country. The vegetation in this area is the stiffest, the sharpest and the nastiest that you will find. The cache is well hidden so bring your notes. The cache is in a half size ammo can. You will have to climb a large boulder to get to the cache. There is no easy way to get there. Sorry but when I was looking for good spots I found several other objects stashed away so I had to find an out of the way spot that wouldn't be found by accident.

Terrific views from this high perch. Looks like we're the first ones to find the cache since the Jesusita fire swept thru here in May 2009. Many of the surrounding trees and plants were burned, but the cache is in fine shape due to the protection provided by the excellent hiding spot. Expect to get some charcoal marks on your clothes as you make your way to the site. Left Fruitbat w/Geocoin and took Klingon Booty.

On our way to the festival in Coachella we had plenty of time to do some caches. This one was an exciting climb.
We did not discover the right path towards the cache so we had to cross the last few hundred meters straight through the jungle, scratching our arms and leggs. After a while we could spot the "tree without top" and we found the cache in minutes. Beautiful place, beautiful view! TFTC

OK, so hiking down from White Mt Pinchi and I reach the trail intersection and look at the GPSr for this cache. It says it is only .16m away, we can do that! I realized that we need to head away from the cache to get back to it on the trail. This should have been my first indicator of a long find, did I mention that Pinchi had blown out the sole on one of his hiking boots? So we are moving east then south and come to the beginning of the labyrinth and climb the first set of boulders for a phenomenal view of SB and the channel, albeit a bit smoky, not realizing the energy expended, what it was only .16m away right.. We meander through the beautiful rock garden and just before we faced a wall of rock with some 150 feet to go we wondered what we’ve tackled. We went around the south end of the face, and climbed into the final chamber. We talked about location and yes we read the hint, I which point I realized that the gallon of water we packed in wasn’t going to be enough. We fueled, hydrated and started our final ascent from two directions. Pinchi arrived at GZ first and made the find. I used his route and saw how cleaver the hide was. What a view and vertigo from the boulders to the west!! I want to thank you for placing and awesome find for my #501, Thank you!! Signed the log, dropped a geocoin took a CD. Now the problem of getting back to the car began, hows come there is no rest stop on this trail?!?!?!

#1322 I think that this is the way geocaching is suppose to be. Nice hiking, great views, interesting hides with non-micro/nano/hard to find caches. Thanks for this wonderful find.

Great view and a wonderful spot. It would have taken forever to get here if not for our guide, GotFish?. Thanks for a challenging cache!
