Seems that we were destined to have a cache here after all! My original cache was lost here in the tornado!
Back in July, 2008 a tornado touched down at this spot, uprooting trees and generally wreaking havoc. Prior to this, there was a sign here noting that this was a boat launching area. The sign posts still exist, but not the sign. While not being announced anymore, the path down to Merrymeeting River is still very suitable for launching canoes or kayaks, and is a great way to get access to this part of the river and to the Merrymeeting Marsh.
Before the tornado, there was a cache in this general area, It was archived due to its hiding spot being destroyed by the winds. This new cache is a small camo'd lock n' lock container holding only a log book and pencil.
