*gln: ARCHIVING ABANDONED CACHE

Greetings ScottyLove,

Looks like our timing is off, and It’s time to say goodbye to this cache.

Since I haven't seen any maintenance here in a while, I am going to assume that your priorities have changed, and you’ve gone in a different direction.

Archiving due to lack of maintenance is permanent.
CACHE ARCHIVAL IS PERMANENT.

Let me know if I can be of assistance in the future.

Thanks a MILLION for all you have done, Glenn

Geocache Description:

Benchmarking: Springfield

There is no cache at the coordinates above. Read below on how to find the correct coordinates.

I think it's always a bonus to find a benchmark while out caching. Here's your chance to knock off some local benchmarks, tour the city, and find a geocache!

This cache was inspired by a similar one I recently found down in Fayetteville, AR but I put my special twist on it. Instead of just giving you the PID numbers, I'll just show you a snapshot of the the disks I found and let you figure out how to arrive at each.

You should also know that benchmarks are notorious for have poor coords. One of these is off by 340 feet! If you pay close attention the Documented History section you should be able figure them out. I did!

Benchmarks!

A

Look to the south. See the sign stating the height of the bridge? Add the individual digits together.

B

When looking to the South, you'll see a sign that reads 242.?. B is the ? digit.

C

Any idea what the speed limit is here?

D

Look to the Southeast. Count the number of orange cement pylons.

E

Look to the West. Use the formula A=1, B=2, etc. What number is represented by the letter in the round sign?

F

Sign here says 13 miles to Wilson's Creek Battlefield. But look closer... How many miles did it say before they repainted the sign?

Use your answers above with the formula below to find ground zero.

37 D + F . (C x C) + A + B + E
93 A + B . (C x A) - (C + A)

The terrain rating is really a combination of all of the different spots and not necessarily the final...
