3 de Juliol del 1970, provinent de Manchester arriba un Comet 4
Havilland, matrícula G-APDN, amb destí a l’Aeroport del Prat de
Barcelona, tot seguint l’aerovia UB31.
Sobrevolada Tolousse, s’endinsa a la boira que aquell dia tapa
el Montseny i el pilot, que vola per primer cop cap a Barcelona,
seguint el sistema VOR’S confon el VOR i creu trobar-se a Sabadell,
i aixi ho diu a l’aeroport del Prat. Aquests, tot seguit veuen un
avió a Sabadell al seu Radar i assumeixen que es tracta del Comet
4, aixi que el dirigeixen cap al rumb 140. L’atzar i les males
coincidències juguen en la seva contra, l’avió, creient trobar-se
prop del Prat perd massa alçada i vola directe cap a la seva
destrucció. Eren les 18:05, entre Santa Fe del Montseny i Sant
Marçal.
Varen morir 7 tripulants i 105 passatgers, tots ells britànics.
Les restes no van ésser traslladades al seu païs d’origen i reposen
a una fosa al Cementiri d’Arbúcies.
Avui, d’aquell terrible accident, en romanen tan sols petits
fragments metàl•lics al peu del monument commemoratiu...
Els equips TNCT i Técnics, arrel d’una gran feina
d’investigació, han localitzat el lloc de l’accident, i gràcies a

July 3rd. 1970, flying in from Manchester is a Comet 4
Havilland, registration number G-APDN, headed for the Prat Airport
of Barcelona, following air corridor UB31.
Leaving Tolousse behind, it flies into the thick of the fog
around the Montseny range and the pilot, who’s flying to Barcelona
for the first time following the VOR’S system, mistakes his VOR and
thinks himself over Sabadell, as he reports to Prat airport. Back
in the airport, a plane is spotted on the Radar over Sabadell, and
assumed to be the Comet 4, whom they set on bearing 140. Misfortune
plays against them and the plane, thinking itself now over Prat
descends too much and into its destruction. It was 18:05, between
Santa Fe del Montseny i Sant Marçal.
Seven crew members and 105 passengers died, all of them British.
Their remains were not taken back to their home country, but buried
instead in a grave at the Arbúcies cemetery.
Today, all that’s left from that terrible accident are some
metallic remains at the feet of the memorial monument…

able to locate the place of the accident, and thanks to that, we

Barcelona, siguiendo la aerovía UB31.
Sobrevolado Tolouse se adentra en la niebla que ese día cubre el
Montseny y el piloto, que vuela por primera vez a Barcelona,
siguiendo el sistema VOR’S confunde el VOR y cree estar sobre
Sabadell, de lo que informa al Prat, éstos a su vez ven en su radar
un avión en Sabadell y asumen que se trata del Comet 4, le indican
que vire rumbo 140. El azar y las malas coincidencias juegan en su
contra, el avión, creyendo estar cerca del Prat desciende demasiado
y va directo a su destrucción. Eran las 18:05, entre Santa Fe del
Montseny y Sant Marçal.
Murieron 7 tripulantes y 105 pasajeros, todos ellos británicos.
Los restos no fueron trasladados a su país de origen y reposan en
una fosa en el Cementerio de Arbúcies.
Hoy, de aquel terrible accidente no quedan más que pequeños
fragmentos metálicos colocados al pié del monumento
conmemorativo...
Los equipos TNCT y Técnics, tras una gran labor de investigación
han localizado el lugar del accidente, gracias a lo cual podemos
