Geocache Description:

Small wooded park with packed gravel walk way. Lots of rocks around. easy 1/4 mile loop at most.

This wooded area located at the intersection of East Squantum St. and Quincy Shore Dr. was the seat of the Indian chief Chickatabot, who was visited by Captain Myles Standish and the Indian guide Squanto in 1621. The hummock's name - Moswetuset, or "hill shaped like an arrowhead" - is believed to be the origin of the commonwealth's name, "Massachusetts.

Congrats to Release_the_Hounds on the FTF!

"You mention the 1/4 mile loop walkway. I highly recommend doing the loop, rather than backtracking, if you have never been to the hummock before. The views are great. This is a very nice tranquil place, and a great place to walk your dog. One other note: this area is closed after dusk.
