LIN FAMILY HISTORY

The Ben-Yuan Lin’s Family Mansion and Garden in Banchiao is today’s most complete private garden left in Taiwan. In the old days,wealthy businessmen were very fond of living standards and used such exquisite and elaborate designed mansions and gardens to entertain government officials and business partners. Often they spent tons of money on building such refined mansions and gardens. Yet due to natural destroy or chaos caused by war and the pass of eras, most Chinese-style mansions and gardens are now extremely torn out. Some have already disappeared and could be found only in scholars’ writings or recorded histories. Luckily, the Ben-Yuan Lin’s Family Mansion and Garden in Banchiao has been renovated and maintained by specialists after being ruined during Taiwan’s restoration. Now parts of the mansion and garden have restored as original. The Ben-Yuan Lin’s Family Mansion and Garden in Banchiao can be considered as a historical treasure left by the people from the past and also a place for people to truly understand the heritage and history of Taiwan.

Opening Times
1. Opening hours: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., from Tuesday through Sunday. The ticket booth is closed at 4 p.m.
2. Open on weekends and holidays except for election days, Chinese New Year’s Eve, and Chinese New Year’s Day.
3. Fifteen-day closing-for-maintenance period before summer vacation or winter vacation starts.

Price on Admission Ticket
Taipei County to celebrate the upgrading of municipalities, from January 1, 2010 start free admission.
From Jan 5th to 15th 2010, the Lin Family Mansion and Garden is temporarily closed for maintainance, sorry for the inconvenience.
1. Regular price: NT$100
2. Concession price: NT$50
People who meet the following requirements are eligible for concession tickets:
*Children whose heights are between 120 and 145 centimeters.
*With ID or in uniform, students, military personnel, police officers, firefighters, veterans, military retirees, retired teachers and retired public servants.
*With ID or related documents, volunteer police officers, volunteer firefighters, volunteers in civil defense services and Taipei County Government, Taipei County credit card holders, and residents of Banciao City.
3. Group tickets (for groups of more than twenty people) Regular price: NT$70
Concession price: NT$40
4. People who meet the following requirements are eligible for free admission:
*Over 65 years old.
*Physically or mentally challenged persons and one of his/her legal guardians or companions.
*Children who are shorter than 120 centimeters.
5. Anyone is welcomed to apply for the Ben-Yuan Lin’s Family Abode and Garden
Membership card. With the Membership card, he or she can enjoy a member’s extra benefits.
6. If leaving temporarily during your visit, please get rubberstamped on your hand. You will be able to re-enter the park.

Transportation to the Ben-Yuan Lin’s Family Mansion and Garden
Take bus No. 307, 310, or No. 9of Sanchong Bus Service. Get off at Beimen Street Stop.
Take bus No. 701,702,264, or Green No9. Get off at the stop of the Ben-Yuan Lin’s Family Mansion and Garden.
By MRT: Get off at Fujhong Station. Take Exit 3. The garden is around eight-minute walk from the MRT station.
By Train: Get off at Banciao Train Station. The garden is around twenty-minute walk from the train station.
