Patriarchism | A Long Way for a Little Liberty
In Wisconsin, United States
How Geocaching Works
I'll admit, when I first saw this Little Lady appear in a prominent spot in downtown Neenah, I was nonplused. Sensations of the sentiment I feel toward the surplus of publicly displayed macho military machinery surfaced - too prevalent and a little too fell-good for the many who may see her but not have a true appreciation for what she stands for or for the history of how she came to be.
But then, this is Our Lady, the one that many of our immigrant forefathers bore witness to as they approached Ellis Island and She is nothing to dismiss lightly nor make trivial with a simple offset cache using in-situ plaque info.
It's not surprising that our iconic Lady of Liberty would find herself replicated in miniature form in souvenir shops across America, or even that there are many replicas of her in various locations throughout the US, but perhaps it would surprise you to discover just how many Ladies can be found abroad on foreign shores.
To solve this puzzle and find the final, answer the following questions by taking a virtual tour of Little Liberties, and seeking out information from the various global locations.
This little lady was featured in a recent blockbuster squeal about historical treasures. Unlike ours, she carries a tablet with 2 dates. One which matches a significant day in our history, July 4th, and another matching a significant day in the history of the Lady's home country, July CAth.
The only sitting version of the Lady was designed by a sculptor, born in 187B, who collaborated with his equally successful father on many palaces and churches.
This one stands near the original location where it once stood prominently atop a building whose proprietor manufactured an article of clothing named after it. In 19E0 the directors of this manufacturer visited New York and being impressed by the Statue of Liberty, commissioned sculptor Joseph Herbert Morcom to produce one for their firm, which they named using Liberty in the title.
This bronze model used by Bartholdi as part of the preparatory work for the New York version also carries a different date on the tablet. This one commemorates the date, November GL on which the larger Parisian replica was inaugurated.
This replica represents the only fighting wing of the USAF that has both a number and a name. She is known both as the Statue of Liberty Wing and the FH Fighter Wing.
This replica is located in front of the Museum of Image and Sound is very possibly a casting produced by the foundry which crafted the components of our Lady Liberty in New York. The building she stands in front of, once a prominent government headquarters, was constructed in 1IM9.
This one is located in a park where it can be found amongst many other miniature models of famous architecture. It displays over 150 miniature models of castles, cathedrals and palaces from around the world, all built at a ratio of 1:JL
A life size version of the Torch can be seen near the spot where an overindulgent and insatiable media were partially responsible for the death of royalty in 199K
This smallish version stands near the mines where the copper vein which provided material for the Statue of Liberty was found. During the 1870s, it was the largest copper mine in Norway and up to K0% of Norway's copper export came from this location, which at that time was one of northern Europe's largest mines.
It stands to reason that there are numerous ladies in the country who gave us the Lady. No stranger to controversy and abuse, the replacement for the original which stood in the town of Montesquieu, was melted down by the Nazi occupation force to feed the WWII war machine. It's replacement was vandalized on the night of March 25, 200N in protest shortly after the US invaded Iraq.
The head of the monument where this replica stands has a pyramid shape built of KJ stones, on the top of which stands the Statue of Liberty God holding a torch high.
The toppling of this Goddess of Democracy was seen by millions across the world on television: “pushed by a tank, it fell forward and to the right, so that its hands and the torch struck the ground first, breaking off." As the statue fell, protesters shouted "Down with Fascism!" and "Bandits! Bandits!" This D0-meter tall goddess was destroyed by soldiers of the People's Liberation Army. Interestingly enough, she herself has many replicas around the globe commemorating the events that unfolded before her.
