Twice in a Blue Moon Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

stagetree: There's a certain feeling that you get when you round a corner and see that the ENTIRE STRUCTURE that your cache was hidden in has BEEN REMOVED! [:O]. Call it incredulity mixed with resignation [B)] .
Maybe I'll do a similar cache when we next see two Blue Moons in Australia....... in 2048. Hmmmmmm.

Geocache Description:

2010 in Australia sees a rare Lunar event. TWO Blue Moons in a Calendar Year. The first one on January 30 2010 and the rare second in a year on March 30 2010. I thought this deserved a cache in celebration of such a special event.

According to the popular and more recent definition, a Blue Moon is the second Full Moon to occur in a single calendar month. There have been other, older definitions but this is the one that seems to have stuck.

Two Blue Moons in a year happens usually once in about every 19 years. There were two blue moons in 1991. However, because the timing does not quite work out in 2029 the next time we see two will be in 2048.

2010
Australia, New Zealand and the Far East are the only areas to have a double Blue Moon this year. For the rest of the world the Full Moon that occurred in 1 Jan 2010 AEST was for them in the evening of 31 Dec 2009. They got a Dec 31 Blue Moon, we got a Jan 30 Blue Moon and TWO Blue Moons in a Calendar Year (Jan 30 and Mar 30). Now isn’t that kind of special?

The Cache: A well hidden micro on a path just a short walk from a car park. I managed to squeeze in a logbook and pencil but there’s not much room for swaps. Please rehide it as you found it.
