This cache is one of three that will give you partial coordinates for my Mystery cache called Journey to The Center of Northbrook (GC22WXA). The other two are called A Leisurely Stroll (GC22WXN) and Step Back Up To The Plate (GC22WXH). When you find this one, make sure you jot down the numbers provided under the lid. Once you find all three, you can find the Mystery cache too.
This is a multi cache.
The coordinates provided will bring you to Stage 1, which is a nice memorial in an area called Freedom Park. It is built between the Northbrook Public Library and the Village Hall and contains the names of residents that have been lost while in the military.
During the winter, an ice rink is built in the park just east of the memorial and during certain times, there is very high muggle activity. This could make it difficult for Stage 2 at times. The highest muggle activity is during the winter months on weekend days. If you must attempt this one during this time, please please use extra stealth. Also, Northbrook has a garage near this area so during the week, there could be some city worker muggles. Bottom line…be stealthy.
To get the coordinates for stage 2, you must find the year engraved on the memorial and then multiply the four numbers in the year to get one number that will be plugged into the coordinates below (For example, if the year was 1982, you would perform the following equation: 1 x 9 x 8 x 2 = 144.). You can refer to your answer as “X”.
Once you get your number, plug it into the coordinates for stage 2.
North: 42 07 819 – X
West: 087 49 754 + X
Take a short walk and make the find. (In the winter, you can probably skate on over).
