Geocache Description:

A small cache in a high muggle area.
First of all, when I went to get the mother cache, CAL sent me with specific instructions to get the VT micro… but when I got there it was already gone, so I chose one myself (Hawaii), but I called CAL to ask her opinion… She said Maine was her next available choice, so I grabbed this one for her…

Well, since I enjoyed grilleverything’s Tennessee history lesson, so I thought I might try to follow suite….
Maine is famous for its lighthouses as is evident on its official state quarter. Maine became the 23rd state to be admitted into the Union, on March 15, 1820. The Maine quarter design incorporates a rendition of the Pemaquid Point Light atop a granite coast and of a schooner at sea. The schooner resembles "Victory Chimes" the last three-masted schooner of the Windjammer Fleet.
There are 60 light houses in Maine and they are a major tourist attraction.

Another thing Maine is famous for is lobster???
Portland, Maine holds the record for the world's longest lobster roll at 61 feet, 9 inches. Probably more than I can eat?

Maine is also the home of DeLorme, an innovator in the field of mapping products and technology since the company was founded in 1976. Famous for its Atlas and challenges??? Eartha, is a rotating, three-story globe showcased at DeLorme's Yarmouth, Maine headquarters. It holds the record as the largest globe.

Verismo Leonetti Reserve Red holds the record as the largest Maine Coon cat, at 48 inches long from nose to tail and weighs 35 pounds. What would Tweety say now????

Maine also holds the record in Bethel, Maine, for the world's tallest snowman, which is actually a snowwoman. Olympia Snowe-woman has wreaths as eyes, skis for eyelashes, trees for arms and 5-foot tires as buttons. She’s 122 feet and 1 inch tall..., but she will slim down to a normal size by mid June??

Another of the things the state of Maine is famous for is potatoes. Here’s a few of my favorites: Mashed (with a little garlic and butter), Baked (stuffed with cheese and bacon), Fried (curly cheesy), Potato chips (barbeque), Hash browns (home style) Scalloped (with cheddar) and some Maine entrepreneurs are making vodka from potatoes????. I’ll have to do some extensive testing before I list my favorite vodka????

Maine’s official mineral, Tourmaline is classed as a semi precious stone and the sparkly gem comes in a wide variety of colors, Most commonly black, but can range from brown, violet, green, pink, or in a dual-colored pink and green..

BUT most common of this state is its Name, although usually spelled wrong, almost every town in the US has a “MAIN STREET” …

The cache is a little bigger than a micro, and it is rather close to Main street..

It is about 2 feet above ground, but may require some digging if the plows decide to bury it?
