Geocache Description:

This is an EASY mystery cache, geared for kids, that is along the walking path of a small, little publicized, Bullitt Co. public park that adjoins the Maryville public pool. The cache is an ammo box filled with toys for the little seekers. Coordinates provided above are for the parking area.

GeoKid Quest is a series I thought I would start that teaches kids a few things about nature. I am working with my little Geokid in the Cub Scouts on similar educational nature projects & thought I would tie Geocaching into it. If I get decent response from this one, I hope to start a few more in the near future; each with a different theme.

The goal of this puzzle cache is to teach a little bit about tree identification. Along the walking path, Geokids will need to locate the tree at each of the coordinates listed below, and then correctly identify the tree using selection provided. Please let the little ones use the image file as a guide to help make a positive ID.

Once the tree is identified, plug its corresponding number into the appropriate missing coordinate. Correctly mark all to reveal the mystery cache location. But be careful, there are 10 tree types to choose from, but only 6 of them are part of the mystery cache.

The walking path is short and easy terrain (sometimes can be a little muddy in places).
In preriods of heavy or extended rainfall, a creek may be difficult to cross.

Total time of the journey is likely to be 30-45min. All the mystery trees have fairly distinguishable characteristics year round, or still have foilage clinging on during winter.

I suggest following the trail CLOCKWISE from the parking area and working in alphetical order. Please remember, this is an educational cache, so PLEASE don’t jump ahead to short cut the journey.

Good luck & have fun!

BTW, this park, like other Bullitt County Parks, has a picnic area & playground equip. to make the day more enjoyable.

FTF prize is a new felt geo-gadget bag or pen light.
