The location of this cache is in the vicinity of the building that, at one time, housed the United Nations. It is commemorated here by a plaque and a row of International flags. My distinguished mother worked here at the UN building and then continued on during and after the United Nations relocation to NYC to the architecturally famous building we all recognize so well.
My reason for this location is two-fold and within the realm of what the United Nations truely represents. Firstly, to honor my mother and her work here....she is a remarkable woman and is a walking United Nations all on her own. Secondly, is to honor '' my own little United Nations'' of fellow geocachers who have been so good to me. As of December 2009, I did not own a GPS and was able to achieve my finds, but at the mercy of other cachers, wonderful hints that would bring me right to a cache and of course my beloved Google Earth maps to show me to GZ. After receiving my GPS as a gift, I set out to ''find'' my first caches on my own and then ventured ''placing'' 3 on my own as milestone caches for someone. My proudest moment was receiving the owner notification and the log read...''coords for all 3 caches were right on'' WOW.. I did it!!!(and yes, I have been criticized of my over-enthusiasm for this sport, but who cares.. right?) So, with this being said.. I honor my fellow geocachers Luckyboy,MMacGown, Sakiman, Dog and Bear, Cashew Nuts and team Starbow1er.. you have let me go caching with you...even let me hold your GPS, you have answered my desperate phone calls from the field and you have ''reeled me in'' with a better hint or great advice. You are all my own ''little United Nations'' so I thank you , thank you for all your help!!!
