Vecie Kaiju ielas kapi ir senaka pilsetas kapseta. Ka liecina
vestures avoti, apbedijumi tajos veikti jau 16.gadsimta, kad
Liepajai vel nebija pieškirts pilsetas nosaukums. Tacu
daži vestures avoti min iespejamibu, ka apbedišana tur
varetu but notikusi jau 13.gadsimta, jo šaja vieta varetu
but bijusi sena apmetne.
Interesanta ir Vecas kapsetas rašanas vesture. Pirmie
apbedijumi veikti vecaja Katolu kapseta, bet velak Vecas kapsetas
teritorija paša kanala mala. Un tikai pec tam veidots kapu
paaugstinajums. Tas tapis no kugiem izkrautam balasta smiltim.

ENG: Going down from city center along the Kaiju street you will
found the old cemetery. Once in this area, simple, not particularly

Kaiju street Cemetery is the oldest city cemetery. As demonstrated

century,when Liepaja city had not yet given name. But some

16th.
The old cemetery have an interesting history of the emergence. The
first burials made in the old Catholic cemetery, but later at the
old cemetery area along the city port side. And only then built
tombs of the ships unloaded ballast sand. By the way, the highest
hill of this cemetery is also the highest place in town - It is 12
meters above sea level.
