Geocache Description:

A puzzle cache a short stroll from the Lower Huia Dam.

There are five dams in the Waitakere Ranges, and they supply around 26% of Auckland’s bulk water. The dams were constructed from 1907 to 1971 and named after the stream that feeds into each one’s reservoir. The Upper Nihotupu, the Upper Huia and the Waitakere dams are the oldest dams and are made of concrete. The other two dams, the Lower Nihotupu and Lower Huia dams, are earth dams. The Lower Huia Dam is the youngest, having been completed in 1971. The lake area of the Lower Huia Dam is 50.3 hectares, and it has a capacity of 6.4 million cubic metres.

The cache is NOT at the posted co-ordinates. Don’t go there – swimming is not allowed, and Auckland drinks this water! To find the cache solve the puzzle below:

The cache is a 400ml camo-painted sistema containing logbook and pencil and some small trading items.
