Geocache Description:

Find a big crater and a great view

Everyone knows NgoroNgoro as one of the greatest Nature Reserves in Africa, but from Geographical point of view it is interesting, too, because it is one of the largest caldera craters in the world.
A caldera is a cauldron-like volcanic feature usually formed by the collapse of land following a volcanic eruption. They are sometimes confused with volcanic craters. The word comes from Spanish caldera, and this from Latin CALDARIA, meaning "cooking pot".
Calderas are formed out of stratovolcanoes. The collapse is triggered by the emptying of the magma chamber beneath the volcano, usually as the result of a large volcanic eruption. If enough magma is ejected, the emptied chamber is unable to support the weight of the volcanic edifice above it. As the magma chamber empties, the center of the volcano within the fault ring fracture begins to collapse.
The total area that collapses may be hundreds or thousands of square kilometers.
The NgoroNgoro caldera is about 13km x 20km wide and some 100m deep.

The given coordinates lead you to a very nice viewpoint.

To log the cache send us the result of following questions:

1. Give at least 4 examples of large calderas on other continents and one on another Planet.
2. At the viewpoint there are two monuments. Whom is the one dedicated to, that includes an animal picture.
3. There is a technical equipment placed on the other side of the street, please name the manufactorer (3 letters).
(It is definitely NOT CAT, or do you think the tractor has been there the last 10 years? )

If you like the area and the view here, post a picture of you in the log showing you at the crater rim.
